Save Serpico by refusing the early reporting opportunity and leaving at least 2,000 kcal of food on the Dumping Ground's GROUND grid during Days 48–50. The food must remain there when you depart. Carrying enough calories in your backpack is not a delivery, and the Day 51 survival check ends the rescue opportunity if the requirement is missed.
After he survives, the Day 54 evidence decision determines which faction receives his information. Sending the evidence to a trusted Security contact is different from reporting Serpico for a bounty. The former is a surviving storyline choice; the latter ends the route you are trying to complete.
Check whether this run can use the rescue route
Serpico's story begins on Day 40 and belongs to story progression. He does not visit in Endless Mode. If you are waiting for him in an Endless run, advancing another week does not create the same storyline.
The rescue also requires access to the Dumping Ground. The Maimed starting perk blocks visits to that location, so the normal food-delivery route is unavailable with that restriction. There is no established alternative handoff that lets you satisfy the request from your counter.
An injury can also interfere with leaving the shop during the delivery window. This is why preparing the food early and using the first available night is useful. Waiting until the last night adds a travel risk without changing the calorie requirement.
Before committing to the rescue, check the practical conditions: you are in the relevant story run, nighttime travel is possible, and you can spare enough food. These conditions matter more than choosing sympathetic dialogue if you cannot perform the required delivery afterward.
Follow his early visits without turning him in
Serpico introduces himself on Day 40 as a new Security cadet. He buys treats and food to share with colleagues. His next visits show his growing concern about corruption and his attempt to report it within the faction.
By Day 45, a Security Officer tells you that he is wanted and asks you to report him. On Day 46, Serpico says he has been framed. Reporting him at that stage pays 300 credits and ends the story with him being shot.
The officer's earlier quoted reward and the payment on the actual reporting interaction are not interchangeable. If you are comparing routes, use the transaction you are deciding about rather than assuming every mention of the bounty describes the same payout.
To continue the rescue, decline to report him. That preserves the later food request. It does not complete the rescue by itself: the storyline still needs the delivery, and refusing a bounty does not automatically supply the calories he needs.

Refusing the bounty preserves the rescue route.
Prepare food by calories rather than item count
Georgio brings Serpico's letter on Day 48. The request is for 2,000 kcal, not 2,000 food items and not merchandise worth 2,000 credits. Read the calorie information on the food you plan to leave.
Several different combinations satisfy the same requirement. The examples below use the stated values for the listed foods; check the actual item variant before relying on a name alone.
| Food | Calories per item | Complete example |
|---|---|---|
| Instant Ramen | 500 kcal | Four provide 2,000 kcal |
| Peat | 800 kcal | One plus Standard Raw Meat provides 2,000 kcal |
| Standard Raw Meat | 1,200 kcal | One plus Peat provides 2,000 kcal |
| Bei's Premium Vanilla Icecream | 1,500 kcal | One plus Instant Ramen provides 2,000 kcal |
Choose a combination from what you already own. The request does not require every food in the table, and there is no reason to delay a complete delivery while searching for a particular example item.
Keep the selected food together before departure. This makes it easier to verify the total and avoids selling one of the required items during normal trading. If an item is removed from the planned set, recalculate the calories before assuming the delivery is still sufficient.
Avoid using sale price as a shortcut. An expensive food item is not necessarily the correct calorie total, and a cheap combination can still satisfy the request. The relevant property is the calorie value multiplied by the number of units you actually leave behind.
Complete the Dumping Ground delivery
Make the trip on Day 48, 49, or 50. Taking the first available night leaves room to recover if travel or preparation is interrupted. Do not plan around Day 51 as an extra delivery day; that is when the failed-survival outcome is checked.
- Put the selected food into the backpack you will take.
- Close the shop and leave for the Dumping Ground.
- Find the food in the BACKPACK inventory.
- Move enough food onto the GROUND grid to reach at least 2,000 kcal.
- Check the ground items and their quantities.
- Return while leaving that food behind.
- Read the night log for the calorie total.
The night log is useful confirmation because it records what the game counted. A plan written before departure does not establish that the correct units were actually left on the ground.
If food is still in your backpack when you return, it was not delivered. The task is not to visit the location while carrying supplies; it is to abandon those supplies for Serpico. Inspecting both sides of the inventory before leaving prevents that mistake.

Four listed 500-kcal portions meet the 2,000-kcal request.
Read the survival checkpoint correctly
On Day 51, a total below 2,000 kcal produces the newspaper report that Serpico was found dead. That ends the normal rescue route. Bringing food later does not reverse the failed checkpoint.
If he was fed, the story continues. A Security Officer announces the increased bounty on Day 52, and the later reporting opportunity pays 600 credits. Continuing to protect Serpico means refusing that temptation as well.
The higher bounty is a new decision, not evidence that you should have waited to make the same rescue delivery. Feeding him keeps the surviving branch available; reporting him afterward still gives up that branch.
When diagnosing a failed rescue, inspect timing, location, and quantity separately. Food delivered outside the three-night window, food brought home again, and a calorie total below the threshold are different errors even though all can lead to the same newspaper outcome.
Choose the recipient of his evidence
On Day 54, Serpico asks who should receive his evidence. The options are the Revolution, the Black Market, or a trusted Security contact. The Security option requires at least 50 Security reputation.
| Recipient | Story direction | Next-day indication |
|---|---|---|
| Revolution | The evidence is exposed publicly and Serpico joins the Revolution | Security Corruption Exposed |
| Security | The evidence reaches a trusted contact and supports an internal corruption case | Corruption Charges Reach Security Leadership |
| Black Market | The evidence goes to the Black Market | No corresponding newspaper report |
Choose according to the faction you want to support. The surviving route grants reputation with the chosen faction, so this is a meaningful alignment decision even when you are interested mainly in the final equipment gift.
Do not interpret the Security recipient as an instruction to use Call Security on Serpico. The evidence dialogue and the reporting action serve different purposes. One asks where the documents should go; the other turns the wanted cadet in for money.
The Black Market outcome does not establish a specific public reform or a particular new career for Serpico. Its clear practical distinction is the destination of the evidence and the faction supported. Avoid choosing it because you assume it secretly provides a larger equipment selection.
Select the Day 57 gift for your current bottleneck
The surviving storyline concludes on Day 57 with twelve reputation for the chosen faction and a gift selection. The choices are an Extended Storage Bay, four Module Bay Expansion Kits, or two Current Converters. The listed gifts are in Shabby condition, so do not compare them as though they were guaranteed pristine retail purchases.
The Extended Storage Bay is useful when inventory space is the constraint you would otherwise spend money to relieve. Its listed base purchase value is 800 credits, but receiving storage is not identical to receiving that amount in cash.
Four Module Bay Expansion Kits are relevant when machines need more room for upgrades. Think about whether you have equipment ready to use the extra space. A larger module area has practical value when it supports the production setup you are building.
Two Current Converters fit an equipment and power-management plan. They are more specialized than general storage, so examine whether they address your shop's needs before choosing them simply because the reward contains two items.

One of the final gift choices after the surviving route.
Check the route at each decision
There are three major checkpoints: refusing the early bounty, delivering the food within the window, and directing the evidence after Serpico survives. The gift comes after those conditions, so equipment preference should not distract you from the time-sensitive delivery.
Use the following short check before the final delivery night: confirm travel is available, confirm the carried food reaches 2,000 kcal, and confirm that those units will be left on GROUND. Afterward, use the log and subsequent story events to verify the result.
That sequence preserves the surviving choices while avoiding the two most common misunderstandings: counting food that never left the backpack, and treating a later trusted Security contact as the same action as reporting Serpico for a bounty.
